Although natural teeth whiten well, any fillings or crowns will remain the same colour and may need replacing to match your new lighter shade. Whitening is also worth discussing before veneers, crowns or bridges, so you’re happy with the final colour of every tooth you show when you smile.

How white will my teeth get?
Enlighten whitening can lighten teeth by up to 16 shades. Results vary, but used correctly all teeth whiten dramatically.
Will they look too white?
Natural teeth rarely look too white. Very white crowns can sometimes look wrong, because they are porcelain rather than enamel.
Will my crowns, veneers or fillings change colour?
No. Whitening only works on natural tooth tissue, so you may want to replace some existing work afterwards to match your new shade.
Is there any pain or discomfort?
You may get some sensitivity. Your dentist gives you desensitising swabs to take home, which work immediately, along with a tube of Enlighten Serum toothpaste to brush with while you wait for your trays — that helps too.
How long does it take?
Three weeks from the day your trays are fitted. You wear them overnight for the first two weeks, then for one hour a day in the third week.
How long does it last?
Results can last indefinitely with very simple maintenance — wearing the trays for one night every other month. Brushing with Enlighten White toothpaste prolongs them further.

Both include a dental health check of your teeth and gums before you start, and 0% finance is available on treatment over £1,000 if whitening is part of a bigger smile plan.
A word about “cheap” teeth whitening. In the UK it is illegal for anyone other than a dentist or a dental professional working to a dentist’s prescription to whiten teeth — beauty salons and mobile “whitening bars” offering it are breaking the law, and the burns and patchy results we see afterwards are why the law exists. If a price looks too good to be true, check the provider’s GDC registration first. Every clinician here is GDC-registered, and our numbers are published on the team page.
What happens, step by step
1. Check-up. Your dentist examines your teeth and gums to make sure they’re ready, restores any cavities, and takes moulds for your bespoke whitening trays. They may also recommend a hygienist appointment.
2. Trays. Your mould goes to the laboratory, where technicians manufacture whitening trays to fit your mouth precisely.
3. Treatment. Collect your trays and start using them at home with our whitening gels. In two to three weeks, you can unveil your new smile.
